This is the official flag of the Federated States of Astem.

Astem is a nation whose primary focus is on education and science. This is represented in the symbolism of our flag:

The colours:

Black:
This represents the ink used to type the thousands of pages of scientific research and information which will lead humanity into the future.

White:
This represents the countless pages of information which is available to Humans and the countless pages yet to be written.

Black and White together:
This represents the unity of all people. Our nation represents all human beings and this is reflected in our flag.

Coat of Arms (Upper-left):
This is the official coat of Arms of the Federated States of Astem, not to be confused with the official Seal.

Our Seal

This is the current Seal of the Federal Legislature of the Federated States of Astem.

This is used on all official documents and resolutions released by the Federal Legislature of the Federal Government of Astem.

The official Seal of the Federated States of Astem reflects much of the same symbolism as the flag, with some notable additions:

An open hand:
This represents all of humanity. It is a symbol of honesty, justice and truth which is ubiquitous across all language barriers and national borders.

4 Black Bars and 5 Black Bars:
The 4 black bars represent the 4 broad fields of STEM.
The 5 black bars represent the 5 founding states of the Federated States of Astem.

π:
This is one of the numbers which applies to all fields of STEM.

"Sapientia et Curiositas":
This is the official motto of the Federated States of Astem. This Latin phrase translates to "Wisdom and Curiosity" and embodies all of our core tenets of our nation.

Our Coat of Arms

This is the current Coat of Arms of the Federated States of Astem.

This represents all three Branches of the Federal Government:

The Federal Legislature
The Federal Executive
The Federal Judiciary

Symbolism:

Fox:
The fox represents the House of Auburn, the Archduchy of Astem, the founding nation of the Federated States of Astem.

Open Book:
The book represents the focus of the FS Astem on Education.

Open Hand:
This represents all of humanity. It is a symbol of honesty, justice and truth which is ubiquitous across all language barriers and national borders.

Polar Bear:
The bear represents the focus of the FS Astem on the conservation of endangered Flora, Fauna and Environments.

Shield:
The shield represents the protection of these ideals and symbols of our nation.

This is the current Coat of Arms of the Office of the Chancellor, the mostly ceremonial head of state of Astem.

The fox represents the Office of the Chancellor of Astem.

Shield:
The shield represents the protection of the Office of the Chancellor.

This is the current Coat of Arms of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government of the Federated States of Astem.

This is used on all official documents and executive decisions released by the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

Chameleon:
The chameleon represents our need as a people to adapt to the environment around us. This is the representation of our Ministry of Foreign Relations as it shows our willingness to adapt to our allies and fellow micronationalists.

The shield represents the protection of the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
