Fearless Birth was started by four mamas in 2013 as a fundraising event showing Ina May Gaskin’s film “A Birth Story” to a sell out crowd in Berkeley. We had a panel of Birth Professionals to discuss different birth choices and how they affect women. Our intention was to go on to create a fund for low income women to be able to gain access to midwives, doulas, birth centers where they could receive care that would ensure better outcomes for both mother and baby.
Several babies later, the project was way laid, to be picked back up again by one of the mamas. After experiencing and witnessing pregnancy, homelessness and the extreme stress and abusiveness that can enter relationships in these circumstances, this project would like to offer hope and women centered care at an important and pivotal moment in our lives.
Fearless Birth acts as an agent of change through informational resources as well as financial support.
