In the process of becoming a nonprofit organization
The Foster Care Alumni of America – Wyoming Chapter (FCAA WY Chapter) was officially founded on May 9, 2025, by Nathaniel Williams, a former foster youth and advocate passionate about empowering those who have experienced care. Recognizing the unique needs, voices, and strengths of foster care alumni in Wyoming, Nathaniel set out to create a community rooted in connection, advocacy, and lived experience.
The founding of the Wyoming Chapter marks a significant step in expanding the national mission of Foster Care Alumni of America (FCAA): to ensure that people in and from foster care are connected, empowered, and thriving. Although still in its early stages, the chapter has already begun building a network of alumni, allies, and supporters across the state.
With a vision of becoming a fully recognized nonprofit organization in Wyoming, FCAA WY Chapter aims to provide:
Peer support and community engagement for alumni of the foster care system
Youth advocacy and leadership development programs
Awareness campaigns to educate the public and policymakers on foster care issues
Collaborative partnerships with child welfare organizations and service providers
The chapter believes in the power of lived experience to drive change. It is committed to lifting up the voices of those who have walked through the system and giving them a platform to influence policies, practices, and perceptions.
As of its founding, FCAA WY Chapter is taking the first exciting steps toward building a sustainable and impactful presence across the state. With momentum growing and support building, the chapter is actively working toward official nonprofit status and is excited for what the future holds.
"We’re just getting started—and we’re here to stay."
