My notable personal and academic projects are listed below -
Redevelopment of Mohammadpur Krishi Market, Dhaka - End-to-end redesign of a post-fire urban market, covering feasibility, structure, site circulation, plumbing, rigid pavement, and cost planning, with an ETABS model checked against BNBC 2020.

I led a multi-disciplinary capstone to redevelop the Mohammadpur Krishi Market after the 2023 fire. The work spans proposal to detailed design, including program by floor, an ETABS model of two five-storey RCC blocks with a steel roof truss, code checks for drift and deflection, a parking and circulation plan, demand-based water and pump concepts, rigid pavement sized for heavy vehicle loading, and a consolidated BOQ with unit rates. The outcome is a code-compliant design package with drawings, calculations, and costs that support decision-making for reconstruction.
Fire Safety Retrofit for Dr. M. A. Rashid Hall, BUET - A third-year team project to deliver a code-compliant fire safety upgrade for a dormitory. We used BNBC 2020 and also referenced NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 13 for sprinklers, NFPA 72 for fire alarms, and International Building and Fire Codes for egress checks.

We surveyed existing conditions and hazards, then set occupant load, exit widths, and travel distances per BNBC 2020 with NFPA cross checks. The design adds exterior escape stairs at both ends of each block, reducing travel distance and keeping evacuees in open air. A new hydrant line serves the stairs. The building receives full NFPA 13 sprinkler coverage. An addressable NFPA 72 alarm links detectors, pull stations, and notification devices to a central panel. We specified fire-rated exit doors, stair enclosures, illuminated exit signs, and emergency lighting, plus a simple drill and maintenance plan.
Earthwork Excavation Calculator in MATLAB - A MATLAB tool that computes cut and fill volumes for roads, ponds, and site grading, then converts volumes to cost using PWD 2018 schedule rates, with clear plots and sanity checks.

This project delivers a practical estimator for earthwork planning. In road mode the program forms the design gradient line, finds intersections with the existing ground, and applies the average end area method station by station. For site grading it ingests a grid of spot levels and sums cell volumes. The pond mode handles one or two steps with user defined side slopes and step depths. After computing volumes the tool maps soil classes to PWD 2018 unit rates to produce a cost summary. Plots show longitudinal sections, separate cut and fill regions, and 3D surfaces so results are easy to audit. The code focuses on clear inputs, intersection handling, and outputs that match classroom methods and field practice.
