Undergraduate Thesis – Inter-District Mode Choice Modeling of BUET Students
Applied Multinomial Logit (MNL) modeling to predict inter-district travel mode choices of university students.
Designed and conducted a revealed preference survey with 283 participants, covering sociodemographic, cost, and travel-time factors.
Implemented the model in R (Apollo package) with supporting analysis in Python and Google Maps API.
Explored synthetic data generation techniques to address limited dataset challenges.
Key Outcomes: Achieved 47.24% predictive accuracy, a strong benchmark for discrete choice models. Revealed socioeconomic and gender-based travel behavior patterns, providing insights for equitable and inclusive transportation policy design.
