Hi! I am a postdoctoral research fellow at Department of Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging in University of Alberta. Currently, I am developing deep learning based methods for automatic segmentation of thyroid nodules.
Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. I developed a 3D musculoskeletal segmentation method for metal artifact-reduced maxillofacial CT images.
Earlier, I spent one year as a guest researcher and lead software developer at Iran University of medical sciences. I implemented various radiobiological dose volume models as a software toolbox and received grants for several research projects. The aim of these project is to develop accurate lesion detection system using deep learning in lower limb x-ray images and predicting radiation induced renal damage by investigating the relation between clinical response and image features from CT images.
I received my PhD in biomedical engineering from University of Tehran, Iran. My doctoral research focused on the modeling of bone shape for craniofacial surgery planning and treatment evaluation. I developed a mathematical framework based on surface modeling and Spherical harmonics which can be employed in diagnosis and surgery planning procedure. Furthermore, during my PhD I did collaborative research with imaging based computational medicine lab in NAIST, Japan and we evaluated the efficiency of statistical shape models in automatic segmentation of mandibular canal. This research topic is a prerequisite for implant surgical planning and results in safety margin around the facial nerves.
My main research interests are computational modelling in biology, deep learning and medical image processing. I have been constantly working to improve my skills in data analysis, signal/image processing and machine learning.
Here is my Google Scholar profile and I'm also active in GitHub, LinkedIn and Research gate.
