Pirelli, the exclusive tire supplier of Formula 1, presents a fun-for-all-ages experience with the Pirelli Titanic Tire Wheel.
Inspired by the U.S. Royal (now Uniroyal) Ferris Wheel from the 1964 New York Worlds Fair, this updated take on the ride offers increased capacity, updated technology, and is a permanent fixture unlike its predecessor.
The wheel is designed to be a scaled up Formula 1 tire, specifically a rear tire, making it extra wide. This allows for extra wide gondolas that sit six across instead of the standard two or three.
Additionally, the wheel itself takes on a new life at night. The Pirelli graphics from real Formula 1 tires are duplicated on the ride and feature state of the art LEDs that light up with all the various colors representing the different tire compounds available to drivers on a Grand Prix weekend.
The wheel stands 64’ high and completes three full rotations per ride cycle. Large television screens located around the queue play current Formula 1 Grand Prix highlights, driver interviews, and of course Pirelli commercials featuring clips from both Grand Prix races and the Fast and Furious film franchise.
As an additional tie in, all of the vehicles on display throughout the land are adorned with Pirelli performance tires.
D-zone
After going on the tire wheel, there is a small area where guests can relax after having a long day at the park. The area holds several bench’s under thick trees, the bench’s are themed to old scrap metal built from scrapped car parts. There are also several car wrecks stuck into the ground that has been rusted over and has become small trophy’s for the scrapyard. To the right of the scrap yard is an abandoned car factory where when you go inside is several cars on the conveyor belt that are in the middle of being constructed. Guests can go inside of the managers office where they can get a good look at the factory below, the office itself looks like it has been abandoned for decades with cobwebs starting to grow on the ceiling and furniture. There is also a small break room where guests can get food from 2 vending machines and a small drink bar.
