About Me
Good morning... or afternoon, depending on the time. My name is Solomon Lacy. I am a senior at Maryvale High School for the 2024-2025 school year. I have been a member of Ms. Taylor's choir for the my whole Highschool life. I have always adored music for as long as I can remember but was never confident enough to dive into my desire to learn and perform music. Going back in time I began attending high school, though I was still not in a music class at first. That changed shortly after the school year began when I had to move, which was really difficult because I was leaving all my friends—many of whom I had known for half a decade. When I moved, Maryvale was the nearest school, so that was where I attended. By pure chance, I was randomly placed in Ms. Taylor's class. At first, I was scared and did not feel ready to perform anything, but throughout the school year, I improved—slowly building confidence and learning as much as I could. I was more confident than ever, and Ms. Taylor suggested I try out for the Advanced Choir class. That frightened me, but I gave it a go and received a lot of help from the current advanced choir members at the time. For the first time, I truly embraced a musician’s mindset. Fast forward a bit, and the audition arrived. Thankfully, I got in. When the next school year began, the first big memory I have of that year is getting into Greater Phoenix, which was mind-boggling to me at the time. Fast forward a bit more, and next up was Regionals—which I failed. At the time, it really hurt, but it pushed me harder. A couple of months later came my first competition, where we did great, which motivated me even more. Not much happened during my junior year, so moving into my senior year, I am now a member of both Ms. Taylor's Advanced Choir and Contemporary Band and my desire to keep learning and preforming still grows today.
