The Foundation of Astronomical Studies and Exploration (FASE) fosters a passion for astronomy among Sri Lankan school students and the wider public through engaging Astronomical nights, Public events, Lectures, Seminars, Competitions, and Workshops and more—providing enriching opportunities to explore the universe and cultivate a lasting interest in the cosmos.
We conduct night sky observation with introductory sessions in schools and universities. These are facilitated by our telescopes, laser pointers and resource persons.
Sun observation sessions are conducted by us for schools, primary sections as preferred. Usually, night camps in schools end with solar observation in the morning.
We always include astronomy related workshops, team activities, DIY creations in school night camps to give hands-on experience and aspiration to students.
Introductory lectures on various genres of astronomy are conducted by our members in English or Sinhala as preferred by the audience.
Water rocket making and demonstrations can be held in night camps and day camps with the participation and guidance of our members.
We are capable of conducting observation sessions for exhibition stalls in schools and other institutions.
Invitations for conducting in-depth lecture series are accepted to heighten the knowledge of respective astronomical society members, astronomy competitions and Olympiad participants.
Public events like solar eclipse observations, live streaming of such events and content sharing related astronomy are done by the FASE to enhance the knowledge of astronomy in the community.
Students are encouraged to participate in the competitions organized by the FASE. Some of the previous competitions include,
A Hall/ Auditorium with multimedia facilities for the lectures.
A ground/ open area with a better view of sky for observation.
Power supply to that place for the telescopes.
Assistance in providing the students with simple materials required for the workshops.
Information on the participation count, their age groups, a rough idea about their knowledge level on astronomy and language preference.
Attribution in the event related content with the logo and the name of our foundation.
