BSc. (Hons.) In Physics

The program

 in Physics department, Faculty of Science, University of Dhaka is a 4-year program consisting of four academic sessions, each having duration of 12 calendar months

Definition of a credit 

The credit is defined as follows: 

1.  For theoretical courses, 15 class lectures = 1 credit 

2. Each class is of 50 minutes duration. 

3.  For Lab courses, 30 hour lab work = 1 credit 

4. Each year there is a Practical Physics Laboratory Class worth 8 lab credits.

Credit requirements for the 4 year B.S. (Hons) 

Total Number of Credits required are 136 distributed over 4 years 

MSc. In Physics

The program

 MSs In Physics department, Faculty of Science, University of Dhaka is a 1-year program consisting of one academic session,  having duration of 12 calendar months. The program offers two tracks: MS by Thesis and MS by coursework (non-thesis).

Definition of a credit 

The credit is defined as follows: 

1. For theoretical courses, 15 one-hour class lecture = 1 credit. 

2. For practical 30 hours of laboratory work will constitute one (1) credit.

Credit requirements for the  MSc. 

• Total number of credits is thirty (30) spread over one year of which Twenty (20) credits will comprise theoretical courses. 

• There will be Six (6) credits of:

1. Non-thesis track: Practical+Continuous Assessment (4+2) 

2. thesis track: Thesis+Defense(4+2)

• four (4) credits of general oral examination (viva- voce).
