Travel
The Berg-en-Dal conference centre is situated in the southern part of the Kruger National Park, at about 1.5 hours from Mbombela. More details on how to travel to the venue can be found on the website: https://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/camps/berg-en-dal/tourism/get_there.php. Since the gate of the camp closes at 18:00, participants will have to arrive/depart before this time.
Accommodation
Several bungalows on the Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp have been reserved for participants of the workshop. These bungalows cost approximately R1650 per night and are based on two persons sharing (so R825 per night each). Arrangements have to be made through the organizing committee, so please do not reserve accommodation yourself.
Once registration is closed, we will contact the participants of the workshop to make arrangements for the accommodation. Since only a limited number of bungalows are available, we encourage participants to share a bungalow with another participant, and we may have to take this into account if there are more registrations than can be accommodated with the available bungalows.
The full payment for accommodation, meals (breakfast = R125 pppd.; dinner = R185 pppd.) and the 'Game Drive and Bush Braai' is required by 29 August. You will be asked shortly to provide further details so that the conference centre at Berg-en-Dal can provide an invoice. (Note that participants who decide not to partake in the buffet options can order from the A la Carte Menu and pay directly after each meal. The accommodations also have basic kitchen facilities, for those who prefer to prepare their own meals.)
Game Drive and Bush Braai
On the Saturday evening, a game drive will be organized followed by a bush braai. The cost of the excursion and dinner together are approximately R820. Please indicate on the registration form whether you want to participate.
Further game drives can be arranged with the management of the rest camp. This should be done before the start of the workshop.
Kruger Park Malaria Information
According to the Kruger National Park Malaria Information Centre (South African Parks Board), “Kruger National Park is a high-risk malaria area from October to May.” Participants should therefore highly consider taking antimalarial medication.
