Supermarket Sales Analysis

ABOUT DATASET

This dataset was downloaded from Kaggle. It is a record of supermarket sales for the first quarter of 2019. It includes the sales information, the product sold, and the gross profit generated from each product.

PROCESS OF TRANSFORMATION

The file was imported into power BI in a CSV format. Some columns were created while the unwanted ones were removed to make the data types consistent and appropriate for analysis. data types were changed and finally analysis was done and a dashboard was created.

INSIGHTS.

Sales in the supermarket were low in January 2019 and had the lowest sales in early February 2019. In early March 2019, the supermarket had sales of $75,000 being the highest for the first quarter of 2019.

Food and beverages generated the majority of the total gross income of the supermarket having Naypyitaw as the highest-selling city. The customers mainly used cash for payment with registered customers generating the highest sales for the supermarket.

RECOMMENDATION

• The supermarket needs to acquire more members to increase their sales and also do more advertisement in the cities experiencing low sales.

• Any policy the supermarket wants to implement should also favour the normal customers and also all payment types as there was no significant difference in the sales generated from them compared to the customers that are members.
