October 2025: Fangqun is one of four UAlbany faculty members tapped for 'Pathbreaking Research' Talks on the final day of UAlbany's Research & Entrepreneurship Week.
June 2024: We successfuly completed a GE project entitled "Modeling study of contrail ice particle formation in the altitude simulation chamber at the NASA Glenn Research Center" and, together with Dr. George Dalakos at GE, published a GE Research Technical Report entitled "Contrail Formation in Next Generation Gas Turbine Engine Fuels and Engines".
March 2024: Our paper entitled "Mysteriously rapid rise in Legionnaires’ disease incidence correlates with declining atmospheric sulfur dioxide" is published in PNAS Nexus. Our work mechanistically associating decreasing aerosol acidity with Legionnaires’ disease has been published and illustrates that holistic multidisciplinary approaches must be made to understand/avoid unintended side effects of our attempts to mitigate anthropogenic pollution. This has received international attention and media coverage.
