As we close out 2023, we want to thank each of you who has helped our little farm grow into an amazing outdoor learning space for children of all ages and abilities. We look forward to a new year of learning adventures with our youth, and community gathering with each of you, our Clarkston Family Farm friends. Have fun and be safe this holiday season, and make sure to allow a little joy and relaxation in.

In 1998 Wade and Kim Kuipers opened their 71 acre pumpkin patch to the public in the hopes that families would enjoy the simple pleasures of a fall day spent on a beautiful Midwest farm, as they found they enjoyed it with their three children.

While the little fall happening has changed quite a bit, Wade and Kim have tried to remain true to their original vision of offering a farm experience to their customers that is as close to what you might really find on a Midwest farm as you can get without having to get dirty. While there is a lot to look at on the farm, this is certainly no museum. Instead running, climbing, adventure, fresh air, unique photo ops and classic fall flavors are growing here by the bushel and now two generations of Kuipers are here to welcome you each fall!

At Jones Family Farm, we have been making cheese on a small scale (yes, just the two of us) for nearly 20 years. We know many of our customers and their families by name and have talked about their hopes and dreams. We are, by extension, their family, too.

I've been using this body butter for over a year now, and have given it to many friends and family who are also addicted now! I have chronic hives, which means I can't use scented or unnatural products on my skin. I'm also a nurse and wash my hands all day long. This stuff is heavenly! It smells delicious and melts right into your skin. I also put it on my 5 year old every night before bed as a soothing and relaxing part of our bedtime routine. I also love that it's locally made by an organization that puts so much heart into our community. Win win!

By utilizing compost, crop rotation, conscious tillage and ecologically minded approaches avoiding the use of synthetic fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides and pesticides we maintain an active and living soil that produces nutrient rich food.

Healthy soils are the foundation of organic farming and our food system. Our goal is to maintain an active and living soil, containing beneficial organisms below and above the ground that provide nutrients to plants and help mitigate pest and disease pressure. We feed our soils green manure from cover crops, organic feather meal, organic kelp meal, and dozens ofmicro-nutrients. Yearly soil samples are taken to help inform our organic amendment program and crop rotation strategy.

It took us about 25 minutes to get there from West Hartford. Prior to hearing about this farm, I had never heard of Bolton, Connecticut. I really had no idea where it was located. So, in case you are in the same boat as me, Bolton is located off 384 near Manchester. Here is a little map with Bolton marked by the pin drop. 2351a5e196
