Families Together may be new for 2025, but the heart of this initiative—building connection and community—has always been part of our story. In the past, gatherings were shared informally through ParentSquare and flyers distributed by educational partners. Now, with a growing team of dedicated parents, we’re expanding our reach, strengthening our network, and creating more intentional opportunities for families to come together.
Ivy is mom to Gus, an 8th grader, and this marks their fourth year with TLC. Having experienced the ups and downs of middle school firsthand, Ivy understands the many transitions that come with these formative years. She’s passionate about helping students navigate this stage with confidence and care. Believing that community begins at home, Ivy is eager to share her time, insight, and support to help strengthen connections across the TLC family.
Gracie and her son Dean joined the SD TLC hybrid community in January 2023, and it has become a deeply meaningful part of their journey.
As Dean entered middle school, Gracie began noticing significant shifts—especially in the social landscape. These years bring rapid growth and change, and she believes that with the right support, kids are far better equipped to navigate them and thrive.
For Gracie, the TLC community has been a source of connection and encouragement. She values the shared experiences, the mutual support, and the moments of humor that remind families they’re not alone. By coming together, parents and students alike find a space where they feel seen, heard, and uplifted.
