In 1965, a group of determined students launched a dream from the banks of the St. Joseph River. With no funding, no formal program, and barely enough equipment to stay afloat, they built the Notre Dame Rowing Club from scratch—one oar, one shell, and one race at a time.Their resilience became our tradition.Over the past 60 years, Notre Dame Rowing Club has grown from a student-led dream into a nationally competitive team. We've raced through snow, rain, and pain. We’ve broken boats, lost shirts, and left it all on the water. We’ve also stood on podiums, raised trophies, and proved that the spirit of the Fighting Irish lives in every stroke. This anniversary is more than a milestone—it’s a celebration of every teammate, coach, coxswain, alum, and family member who helped carry the boat forward. From South Bend to Schuylkill, from the Wabash to ACRA gold, the journey has never been easy—but it’s always been worth it.To row for Notre Dame is to row for something greater than yourself. Here’s to six decades of grit, heart, and legacy. Here’s to the next 60. ☘️ Row Irish.
