Step 1

Downloading and Exporting

All right in this video series, we are going over how to use our vinyl cutter. The project we are making will be a 4-inch by 4-inch one-color wall sticker. Let's start by choosing a good image open your web browser preferably google and look up a design you like in this case I will look up “mountain black and white clipart”. Once you find a subject you like hit the tools button and under the size tab select large because we want to have the highest quality image under color select transparent. All right now I want you to pause the video and find an image you like. At this time find your teacher and ask them for a USB stick, once you have it put in the front of your PC, you should get a little ring if you did it right. Now i want you to right-click on the image and in our pop-up menu hit save image. Now in the file menu use the scroll wheel of your mouse find your USB stick and click into that folder. In file name type both your first and last name and hit save. Finally, go down to the right bottom of the page. There should be a little up arrow here, click it, and in the pop-up menu you should see a little USB stick click it and hit eject. Great job we are done in the computer lab, now let's go cut our our vinyl.

Step 2

Vinyl Cutting

Before we get to cutting ask your instructor where they keep the vinyl. For this project, we will be using a black sticker vinyl. In the cabinet, there may be two types of vinyl one for shirts and one for stickers you can tell the difference by looking at the back. If the back is white with a little grid on it, that's your sticker vinyl if it has no backing/grid that shirt vinyl let's take the sticker vinyl over to a cutting mat. For this next part, you will need a pencil, scissors, and measuring tape. Roll out the sticker vinyl take your tape measure measure out 5” of width and mark it with your pencil now let's do the same thing for the height, once you have both of them marked out take your scissors and cut out your square now let's go to the laser.

Step 3

Program and Cutting

Absolutely! Start by powering on the vinyl computer and logging in with the password "surecuts." Locate and open the "Sure Cuts A Lot 3 Pro" app on the desktop. Navigate to the cutter tab and access the menu to add a custom mat. Set the mat size to 5x5 inches. Insert the USB stick containing your image into the designated slot. Trace the image by clicking the plus sign on the top bar and selecting "Browse." Locate your image on the USB stick and open it. After tracing, adjust the image size to 4 inches in the width and height text boxes. Center the image using the middle align buttons in the position and size tab. Now, turn on the vinyl cutter by flicking the switch on the left-hand side. Place the precut vinyl square into the rollers, ensuring it covers the white line and is centered. Secure the vinyl by clamping the rollers down with the lever at the back. On the control panel, navigate to "local," press enter, and set the origin by moving to the top right of the vinyl sticker. Return to the PC and click the "cut with cutter" icon. Finally, press cut to initiate the printing process. Well done—you've successfully completed the essential steps!
