An environment of academic integrity fosters respect for self, others, and the community. Academic integrity includes a commitment not toengage in or tolerate acts of falsification, misrepresentation or deception. Any student whoviolates the policy will receive an “F” for that assignment without the option for a rewrite, and the school Dean, Department chair, and Student Services may be notified of theinfraction. Students who plagiarize more than once will receive an “F” in the course.
Acts of dishonesty include
Copying and submitting another person’s work as your own (including only changing afew words)
Having somebody else write your papers or “edit” your work to the point where thefinal product is not indicative of your normal work
Having any form of unpermitted outside assistance for quizzes and exams
Tampering with the work of another student
Facilitating other students’ acts of academic dishonesty
Recycling work from other courses
By now, just about everyone has heard of Chat GPT, and most folks have given it a try.
I want to let you all know that I am not anti-Chat GPT or artificial intelligence. It absolutely has its benefits, and it can be used as a tool for learning. However, using it to write your essays in this class is a form of plagiarism and will result in a failed grade for that assignment. If you are caught using it and continue to use it for other assignments, you will not be able to pass the course.
The tool Turnitin that is used to detect plagiarism also has a built in AI detector, and it's pretty accurate. This means that it's really difficult to use AI and not have it detected.
Moral of the story? Don't plagiarize, and you'll do fine in this class.
