Student Council
By Aubrey Jovel
Student Council! It is such a fun and inclusive club run by Mr. Schaaf and Mr. Berard. In student council we do boo pops, veterans day assembly, teachers challenges, spirit week, workshop, convention and so much more! Theres’s meetings every Wednesday after school from 2:45 to 3:30 and it is so much fun! But why should you join stucco?
You should join student council because you can learn leadership and work with your peers, here are only a few of the thing’s stucco teaches you: respect, responsibility, leadership, integrity, teamwork, and service. All these things are important because it is STUDENT council for a reason because the students run it! There are officer roles too for 6th 7th and 8th graders, running for president in eight grade is a big achievement (though you chose to run)
From building your way from 6th grade working school store... 7th grade starting boo pop factory and working boo pop selling to 8th grade running for president or an officer position and working with Mr. Schaaf and Berard, it gives you a huge sense of pride and achievement because of how hard you’ve worked. Teamwork is one of the most important things in stucco next to leadership because you are a council together and work in groups when creating spirit week ideas or t-shirt designs for stucco. It is most important to help you grow.
Check out the video interview for Mr. Schaaf I did with on Student Council.
Thank you for reading my article about student council and I hope you are inspired to join!
Zines
Zines, mini magazines! It can be about your dog, an Owala or even our school! Ms. Hill, an eight grade ELA/Reading teacher started zines this year with her ELA classes! Check out the library Hall of Zines there are so many good zines in there. But we should dive deeper into what are zines?
I interviewed Ms. Hill about zines and why she enjoys to assign and do them. Watch the video to see the interview! 😊
Zines are mini magazines; they have 8 pages and are folded and cut to replicate a miniature book. They can be written about anything and anyone! It can be an idol, maybe your teacher, a soccer player maybe even a fictional character. It can also be about something, you can do a yelp review about your favorite pizza place, or you can write about a sport you like or play, there are so many possibilities, it is amazing! You can search for a video on how to make a zine, it’s very simple to make a zine all you need is a sheet of paper and scissors. There's also a picture of how too at the end. You can search up zines online for inspiration but there’s no rules to creativity.
When you make a zine here are some things you should include, make sure there is a picture on almost every page it helps give visual representation along with good description of what you are writing about, think about it as if you are reading an book, you read and visualize while you read so do the same for your zine when people read them. It makes the experience more enjoyable and interesting.
Thank you for reading my article about zines! Please read the zines in the library and make some of your own, it’s super fun! 😊
The Ultimate Key to Brain Rot
By: Christine Reynolds
Everyone has heard the saying “sigma” or “6-7” but what do they actually mean? Here is your dictionary and key to learning what really the 6B banned words mean.
Starting at the bottom of the list with 15, “Oioioi” which is not just said by itself but said together with also number 12 on the list with “Baka”. The full saying is “oioioi baka”. The saying comes from an anime called “My Hero Academia” “baka” meaning idiot in Japanese and “oioioi” leading on the irritation of surprise. The saying is used by the character “Bakugou”.
Next 14 “Phantom Tax” Google has many theories about what “Phantom Tax" means. Some say it’s how Gen z’s and Alphas call someone attractive, which is so off! Some say it's about taxes that have to be paid but not even knowing. “Phantom Tax” is from a youtuber named fanum. However, there is no real meaning to the word “Phantom Tax”.
Numbers 13, 6, and 3 all have almost the same meaning. They consist of anything that has Aura in it, Rizz, and Sigma. What they all mean is charisma. If you don’t know what charisma means, it means to be charming and someone people like. However, they each have a backstory. First, Sigma is a word from the Greek alphabet and lines up in the same place with the English letter “R”. Next, Rizz, Rizz comes from the exact word chaRISma or chaRIZZma. Lastly, Aura, Aura also comes from a Greek and Latin term meaning breeze.
Here is a quick rundown of the next 11-7 words on the list:
11. Zesty- Is to have dramatic energy and to be attention grabbing it also is being used in a humor's ways. The real word zesty was to describe a spicy sauce and dressings which bent to describe one's personality.
10. Bet- To agree to a deal or challenge. The real word started in the 1980’s for African American slang.
9. Chopped- To call something or someone ugly. The word also started as African American slang in the New Jersey area.
8. Brain Rot- Is a series of words which is a lot! Like Italian Brain Rot and there is a lot in that category. The word didn't become a thing till 1854 but was used to describe the same thing till this day, Poor quality content mostly to refer to online content.
7. Alpha- This word has a few meanings to it, it's the first letter of the Greek alphabet, The Alpha generation that uses these terms as well as Gen z’s, and it also can mean to be the alpha of a pack of wolves.
We're getting closer to the number one most banned word but first the word Skibidi. Skibidi started from a YouTube series called Skibidi Toilet. The word skibidi doesn't have a real meaning but when an Alpha or Gen z hears it, it's usually referred to as something cool. It can also mean charisma as well.
Now the top two most banned words in 6B are 6-7 and 4-1. 6-7 started as part of a song called “Doot Doot” which was later used in edits of LaMelo Ball because of his height of 6-foot 7inches. Later a kid named Mason started the rave with the hand gesture and the say 6-7. 4-1 was just another alternation of 6-7.
