Professional Portfolio

As an advocate for technology as a tool to collaborate, connect, and share, I have created a digital professional portfolio that showcases my skills in the areas of curriculum, instruction , assessment, and technology. Please reach out to me at mafalk84@gmail.com if you have quesitons about any of my skills or resource materials. I love to share and talk about my views on teaching and learning. I am a big picture thinker who can help others manage change.

After high school, I attended Bowling Green State University to earn a degree in Elementary Education. I had aspirations to become a 5th grade teacher. After graduation, I did substitute teaching in the Van Wert area. My full-time teaching career was primarily in English Language Arts, first at the junior high level at Wayne Trace and then with grades 11 and 12 at Vantage Career Center. I also have earned a Master in Education in Curriculum and Instruction (1998), a Principal’s License (2001), and added coursework to be licensed to teach grades 7-12 ELA (2006). Since 2011, I have served Vantage in the capacity of Lead Teacher. This position covered anything from leading teachers with content standard changes to integrating technology to building a program for Resident Educators including serving as Program Coordinator. I was also part of the team to plan and implement professional development for the district. Beginning in 2014, I became the Technology Integration Specialist and Curriculum Coordinator for Vantage. In 2017, Technology Integration became my focus as I moved into the Technology department full-time.
