This project is my Master thesis project. In this project I started by doing literature research to learn more background knowledge of gender studies, anthropomorphic of robots, gender attribution/design to robots, and learned how to conduct quantitative research by focus groups. I cooperated with the LGBTQ+ community at TU/e to include diverse gender identities in this project.
Three focus groups with people of different gender identities were conducted online and each of them lasted at least 60 minutes, the longest one lasted for about 90 minutes. These online discussions provided me with 77 pages of transcriptions (after transcribing, correcting, and formatting). With this huge amount of data, I used thematic analysis to explore the insights and present the results in a well-organized way.
Currently, my supervisor plans to write a paper on my thesis and I will be one of the authors as well. I would take this as a positive recognition of the results obtained from this project.
