Faith Companion (“Faith Companion,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Hien Dao. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Faith Companion mobile application.

Faith Companion is designed to work offline first. Many features, including Bible reading, bookmarks, reading plans, journal entries, reflections, and offline guidance, can be used without creating an account.
Information leaves your device only when you choose features that require an account, cloud backup, Online Guidance, purchases, or online audio.
Faith Companion may store the following information locally on your device:
Bible bookmarks, reading position, highlights, notes, and reading plans;
prayer journal entries, reflection notes, saved reflections, and related preferences;
Scripture Chat history and locally generated responses;
reminder preferences and app settings;
downloaded Bible audio and related playback settings; and
cached purchase display information, such as product prices and entitlement status.
This local information remains on your device unless you remove it, delete the app, restore over it, or use account deletion where applicable.
If you create an account, we process your email address, password, account identifier, and email-verification status through trusted account-service providers.
After you verify your email, you may choose to back up selected app data. Your backup is stored in a private cloud database associated with your signed-in account and can be restored on another device signed in to the same account.
We use your account identifier to provide account features, protect the service, associate your private backup with your account, and verify access to Online Guidance.
Faith Companion offers optional Online Guidance features, including Scripture Chat and personalized prayer generation. These features require a signed-in, verified email account.
When you use Online Guidance:
we receive your submitted text, authenticated account identifier, and limited context needed to continue the conversation;
our secure service verifies your account and applies usage limits and Seed balances;
the text needed to generate a response is processed by a trusted third-party AI provider; and
we may retain limited operational records needed for security, fraud prevention, quota enforcement, payment reconciliation, and service reliability.
Do not submit highly sensitive personal information through Online Guidance. Online Guidance is a reflection tool and is not pastoral, medical, mental-health, legal, emergency, or crisis advice.
Faith Companion uses Seeds to manage access to Online Guidance.
To prevent repeated use of a one-time Trial Seed allowance, we retain a secure, one-way cryptographic record derived from an email address after Trial Seeds have been granted. This record is used only to determine whether that email has previously received the one-time trial allowance. It is not used for advertising or marketing.
Purchases are processed through the applicable app store and its payment systems. We do not receive or store your full payment-card information.
We use trusted purchase-management providers to help manage purchase status, subscriptions, product entitlements, and restore-purchase requests. These providers may process your app-specific user identifier, product identifiers, transaction and entitlement information, device information, and related technical data needed to provide these services.
When you choose to stream or download online Bible audio, your device connects to the relevant audio provider or hosting service. Those providers may receive technical information such as your IP address, device or browser information, and the requested audio file. Their own privacy policies may apply.
If you enable reminders, Faith Companion may request notification permission from your device. Reminder preferences are stored locally. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only as needed to provide the features you choose to use, including with trusted providers for:
account authentication and private cloud backup;
secure API delivery, account verification, Seed management, and service protection;
optional AI-powered Online Guidance;
purchases, subscriptions, and entitlement management; and
online audio when you choose to stream or download it.
We may also disclose information if required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the public, or the security and integrity of Faith Companion.
You may delete your account from Faith Companion Settings. Account deletion removes your account, private cloud backup, and associated server-side AI wallet data.
Some limited records may remain where necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, transaction reconciliation, or to prevent repeated use of a one-time Trial Seed allowance. In particular, the secure trial-eligibility record described above may remain after account deletion.
Local data stored only on your device can also be removed by deleting the app or clearing the relevant content within the app.
Our service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. We use service providers that apply safeguards designed to protect information in accordance with applicable law.
Faith Companion is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account or submit personal information if you are under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at faith.companion.support@gmail.com
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Faith Companion changes or as legal requirements change. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. For material changes, we may provide additional notice in the app or by other appropriate means.
