Emerging from the cave... as former prisoners... or still imprisoned?
Dear Philosopher,
This website represents our best efforts to further digest and discuss the most compelling topics and thinkers we have encountered this term in PHR380. We have chosen to concentrate our podcasts on investigating interesting ideas from our peers' podcasts and our readings alike, focusing on studying them more deeply than we have been able to thus far. We have included background information on each topic and a source list to provide the philosopher with context and room for full engagement with the questions we are pondering.
We hope this series leads you to re-examine your beliefs, and, ultimately what belief is and how it helps us address some of our most profound questions.
Sincerely,
Genie Han and Henry Zimmerman
"What are the fundamental beliefs by which we live? How do we form, inform, and reform these beliefs? In this course, students will explore the nature of belief by undertaking critical examination of philosophical and religious texts. Students will also examine contemporary con-texts for belief—intellectual, cultural, and social—in order to address questions concerning ultimate being and reality." - Course of Study, 2025
