Autoplay Stopper ("the extension") is a browser extension that stops video and audio on web pages from playing automatically.
None of your browsing data. The extension does not collect, store on any server, transmit, sell or share information about the pages you visit or your settings. It contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising or tracking code, and it makes no network requests of its own, except the optional Pro license check with Lemon Squeezy described below (only if you enter a license key).
The following is saved locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage and never leaves your device (except the Pro license key, see "Optional Pro upgrade" below):
your settings (enabled/disabled, default mode, muted-autoplay option);
the list of sites you have allowed or blocked;
a temporary per-tab count of blocked media, used for the toolbar badge and cleared when the browser closes;
if you use Pro: your wildcard rules and the license data described below. If you turn on Pro rule sync, your site rules and wildcard rules are also saved in your browser's own sync storage (Chrome Sync, operated by Google under your Google account settings), never on Fairtools Labs servers.
You can delete all of it at any time by removing the extension.
To block autoplay, the extension runs a small script on the pages you visit. It only intercepts media playback (video/audio). It does not read, record or transmit the content of pages, your browsing history, form data or any other information.
storage — to save your settings locally.
activeTab — to know which site you are on when you open the toolbar popup, so you can allow or block it.
Access to websites — required to stop autoplay before a page's own scripts start it, on every site and in embedded players.
Access to api.lemonsqueezy.com — used only to activate, check and deactivate a Pro license key, as described in "Optional Pro upgrade" below.
Pro features are optional; the free features keep working without them. Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record: Lemon Squeezy runs the checkout and processes the payment, taxes, invoices and refunds, and collects the information needed for the purchase (such as your e-mail address and payment details) under its own privacy policy (https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy). Fairtools Labs never receives your card or bank details. Lemon Squeezy shares with Fairtools Labs the order details needed to deliver your license and give support (such as your name, e-mail address and country); we use them only for that purpose and never sell them.
After buying you receive a license key. The extension contacts Lemon Squeezy only in these cases, sending the request directly from your browser to the Lemon Squeezy License API (api.lemonsqueezy.com), without cookies:
when you paste the key and click Activate: the license key and a generic installation label ("Autoplay Stopper (Chrome)");
about once a week while Pro is active: the license key and the activation ID, to check that the license is still valid (if you are offline, Pro keeps working for a grace period);
when you click Deactivate: the license key and the activation ID, to free that activation.
No browsing data is ever sent: no visited sites, page content, site rules, settings or history is included in these requests. If you never enter a license key, the extension makes no request to Lemon Squeezy at all.
To make Pro work, the extension stores on your device: the license key, the activation ID returned by Lemon Squeezy, the license status and the date of the last check. They are deleted when you click Deactivate or uninstall the extension.
Any change to this policy will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date.
For any question or request about personal data (for example, access to or deletion of your Pro order details), write to the address below. Payment data is handled by Lemon Squeezy; you can also contact them directly.
