The ETHL Summer School will run from 22nd - 26th of June in Edinburgh with courses focusing on the interaction of generative theory and historical linguistics - the first of its kind! Through ETHL we aim to supplement Historical Linguistics curricula giving students the opportunity to engage with theoretically rigorous historical linguistics. Find out more about the school on our website!
Our 2025 workshop consisted of four Socratic seminars addressing philosophical issues in Theoretical Historical Linguistics such as the locus of linguistic change and the realism of reconstructed forms in addition to deep dives into models of change and evaluations of synchronic theory in terms of its ability to account for change.
