Pledge to Take Action
Dear Students, Survivors, and Colleagues,
We pledge to take action on the new proposed rules, to participate in the Notice and Comment period ourselves, and to encourage as many others as possible to do the same.
We affirm our commitment to protecting equal access to educational opportunities for all students, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, national origin, and ability, and we pledge to:
- sign the petition for extension of the comment deadline at https://act.nwlc.org/onlineactions/xe2SGYU1Tk-wK5fIVeFRKw2 and to
- submit an original comment before January 30, 2019.
We further pledge to make every effort to take at least one of the following additional actions:
- hold a comment-writing party or other event on our campuses, in our communities, and/or with marchers attending the 2019 Women's March;
- integrate comment-writing into our teaching through an assignment for course credit or extra credit;
- use our social media presence to spread the news about commenting; and/or
- otherwise encourage our colleagues, students, friends and family to write and submit comments via https://www.handsoffix.org/submit-a-comment.
The Title IX and #MeToo movements have ignited a national wave of awareness and shed light on an invisible epidemic.
We hear you.
There is no going backward.
