For either of these support systems to be successful, the following is needed:

opportunities for your students and support person to collaborate during lecture.
consistent encouragement for students to utilize the support service.
open communication between faculty, embedded class support, and supervisor/coordinator.
faculty participation in training and data-gathering opportunities.
be available for regular meetings with support person to share ideas and resources that will help them work with your students.
