Blended learning means that we use technology as a tool to best meet the needs of your student by looking at the most effective way of delivering instruction. Sometimes this means that your student completes activities outside of class with technology and then applies their learning in class with me. This way, your student can pace their learning in a way that is most effective for them.
No, the weekly activities are not mandatory. However, I strongly believe that the lessons I create for your student will help them grow this year because they are in charge of the instructional pace.
While I try to include all subject areas in my weekly activities I primarily focus on math. This is because I want students to have access to the specific teaching points and strategies we learn in class wherever they go. I do not want to overwhelm your student with activities and resources so we focus on math in our online classroom.
At the beginning of the year I asked my families to fill out this form so that I can better serve your students unique needs. If you do not have access to technology outside of school please let me know so we can work together to provide your student with the time and resources during the school day.
My goal is for us to work together this year to provide your student with the best learning experience possible. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please contact me and we can schedule a time to work together.
I understand that budgeting time outside of school to work on learning skills can be a challenge. So I do not assign traditional homework. I do ask that you make reading part of your family culture through daily interactions with print. Developing a love for literature is such a vital part of student success and I make reading a priority in our classroom and encourage you to do the same at home. The additional activities that I post weekly on this website are completely optional but I believe a valuable addition to extend the learning outside the classroom.
