This programme is a specialized branch of Mechanical Engineering. The programme deals with the design, fabrication, welding, installation and maintenance of pressure vessels, heat exchanger, boiler, condenser, reaction vessels, agitator, material handling equipments, piping, various structure, ship, vehicle body etc. The department is having well equipped Welding, Fabrication and N on-destructive testing laboratories.

Brief about the Institute
The Institute was established in commemoration of his late father BHAVSINHJI and was commenced from 15th July, 1949 vide Saurashtra Government, Department of Industry & Commerce, Rajkot Resolution No. 36 dtd.23/4/1949 by introducing Automobile Engineering Course with 6 students in the first batch. Gradually, the activities in the Institute expanded and multiplied. Today it has grown to the size of being one of the biggest Polytechnics in India, with the intake capacity of 600 students in the first year of Diploma and Advanced Diploma Courses.
Inherently, the Institute has magnificent building and sufficiently spaced laboratories, workshop, library. With the change in trend of technological and engineering development, the Institute has attempted to synchronize all corresponding activities in terms of quality development programme for staff, new courses, building, laboratory innovation and modernization of equipment. The Institute has corporate reputation due to equilibrium and dynamic co-ordination
The Institute holds huge land and premises of its own and covers an area of about 20 Hectors. It is situated in an open healthy and quiet locality known as Vidyanagar, far from the centre of busy areas. This locality is surrounded with an educational campus of Bhavnagar University and colleges of Science, Arts, Commerce. B.Ed., Law and various other post-graduate departments of the University.

1. To prepare the students with strong fundamental concepts, analytical capability and problem-solving skills in the field of fabrication technology.
2. Imparting skill based technical education to the students and enhancing their skills to make them globally competitive fabrication engineers.
3. To provide the students with academic environment of excellence, leadership, ethical guidelines and lifelong learning needed for a long productive career.

1. Diploma Fabrication Technology holders will perform in world class manufacturing organizations satisfactorily.
