Study and implementation of probabilistic graphical models describing causal relationships using complex epidemiological datasets. Longitudinal cohort and case-control datasets are combined with expert opinion in the construction of these models. The models will be used to assess disease burden that can be attributed to particular risk factors (e.g. smoking or diet) as well as to predict possible consequences of health care interventions.
