The pineland hibiscus (Hibiscus aculeatus, above) drops red pollen on its white petals.
Ants such as Crematogaster spp. (above, middle) and Solenopsis invicta (above, right) eat this pollen, and consume nectar from glands on its buds, flower bases, seed pods, and leaf veins.
