Timing

You have 9 minutes for your presentation.

Please ensure your recorded content does not last longer than 9 minutes.

Important Information

  • All oral communications will be pre-recorded with live questions and discussion following each presentation

  • We will play your pre-recorded presentation during the meeting followed by 4 minutes for questions and discussion

  • Speakers must be present throughout the entire session. Attendance will be checked at the beginning of the session

  • Please use patient-first language e.g. ‘patient with diabetes’ instead of ‘diabetic patient’

  • All presentations must be delivered in the English language

  • All presentations must be submitted in advance of the meeting. The deadline for submission is Friday 20th August.

Slide Format and Design

  • Slide size should be a 16:9 landscape format

  • Please construct your presentation using Microsoft Powerpoint and save your presentation as a .ppt / .pptx file

  • Use standard fonts, such as Times, Helvetica, Calibri or Arial

  • A font size of 28-32 is ideal

  • A font size of up to 24 is acceptable and could be used in isolated areas

  • Please ensure any pictures included are of sufficient resolution and display well on all devices (e.g. .png and .jpg formats)

The first two slides in your presentation must include the following information:

Slide 1: Title slide – please add the title of your talk in the format below

  • < Title of presentation >

  • < Author list with presenting author underlined using the format - First name, Family/surname>

  • < Affiliations/Country >

  • < Session theme (e.g. Obesity, Diabetes) >

Slide 2: Conflict of Interest slide

  • A statement of conflict of interest is compulsory at the beginning of your presentation. It is the policy of EYES 2021 to ensure balance, independence, objectivity and scientific rigour throughout the scientific programme. You must disclose any financial relationships with a commercial interest that might affect the content of the presentation

  • Important: It is mandatory that all presenters prepare a disclosure slide as the second slide in their presentation. If you have nothing to disclose, this slide must be included indicating ‘nothing to disclose’

The remaining slides do not need to follow any specific format, but for original research we would suggest:

  • Background

  • Methods

  • Results

  • Conclusion

  • Acknowledgements

For case reports, we would accept an alternative format.

Content

  • Follow standard scientific principles on every slide (i.e. protect patient confidentiality, cite all references, etc.)

  • Consider readability in the composition of your presentation

  • The following link contains instructions on how to record your presentation with audio using PowerPoint (more information here)
