However: I sync with my iPhone, and after completing transmission to the iOS app, the eye-fi appears to shut off wireless transmission: The eye-fi hotspot disappears and my phone returns to whatever connection it had previously (3G or my home wifi). So it doesn't appear to be too wasteful of battery.

So I have been trying to find any actual trial and error news on this combo. It would be ideal to have a 8gb eye-fi card and an CF adapter in one of the slots to transfer pics to my laptop on the fly, but I can't find anyone that have actually tried this in a D3. All I find is the warning from Eye-fi about it, but even with the warnings it could work on d3 since it has dual slots and can store the same pics to both slots.

Have anyone tried this in here?

It's all well and good talking about it but has anyone used them...well I have, I'm a pro-sports photographer in Ireland and bought the pro eye-fi card and used it with a cf adapter in a d300.. yes the range isn't great but I sit with my laptop at my side so thats not an issue, the transfer is not always instant but manageable..

I bought a d300s yesterday and it has an SD slot which will house my Eye-Fi card and the great thing about the d300s is that is has inbuilt menus specifically for EyeFi

I will shoot to both a high speed CF card and the SD (eye-fi) and ad-hoc send the images I want to wire to the newsdesk directly to the laptop via eye-fi card...what a feaking awesome workflow i'm going to have when the soccer season starts in a few weeks....

update, I purchased an eyefi card again and a CF/sd adaptor... I was told if you strip down the adaptor to the bare circuit board it will fit, and work in the d3s.

After getting all the bits together, i tried it and it does in fact work! the only problem is the eye-fi will not transmit when the SD card is in the d3s... if i pop the eyefi into the computer or a P&S camera, it starts transmitting to my ipad instantly (the pix taken on the d3s).

I switched the autometer setting to constant on, supposedly leaving the metering on, also leaves the cf power on and SHOULD allow the eye-fi card to transfer but so far no luck...

I had been using an eye-fi card prior and tried it after acquiring the X Vario. The menu selection will not control the eye-fi card. So I did some research and also learned that they work a little differently. I was using the eye-fi to upload images to my nearby laptop. The flashair II doesn't push images but rather presents a wifi access point and webdav folder to view or move the images. ff782bc1db
