The organizers acknowledge financial support from the Initiative « Physique des Infinis » of Sorbonne Université and the UFR of Physics of the Faculty of Science and Engineering of Sorbonne Université.

Rationale. 

This workshop gathers astrophysicists and plasma physicists from the French research community working on astrophysical applications of  laboratory plasma, and in particular those produced on high power lasers. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: radiation dominated flows, equation of state, opacities, collisional and collisionless shocks, turbulence, magnetized jets, kinetic and fluid instabilities, cosmic rays transport and acceleration, ...

The aim of the workshop is to promote interdisciplinary interactions and discussions around current topics of interest in space and astrophysics research, where laboratory experiments can help bring unique insights. The workshop will also be the platform to promote the preparation of a white paper on the same topic.

The workshop's programme includes exclusively invited review talks and invited tutorials. There will be dedicated poster sessions and we invite colleagues to submit an abstract to present a poster.

Registration and abstract submission.

This is not a virtual meeting and all speakers will be physically present at the workshop. However, the number of places is limited and registration is required to attend the meeting in person (registration for in-person participation is now closed). There are no registration fees.

Practical information

Lunch and coffee breaks. Due to the current sanitary situation, the new regulations prohibits lunch and coffee breaks in the premises of the workshop. Instead we will provide a "lunch box", as well as "collation box" for the breaks, to the participants. These cannot be consumed within the workshop premises and are to be taken away, and eaten in plein air. The Pierre et Marie Curie campus has several external seating areas protected from rain and coffee vending machines.

Given the not-so-warm weather, we understand that this is not optimal. For those seeking more comfort, they should make their own lunch arrangements in one of the many restaurants and cafes around the campus.

Please note that the organizers will not be able to refund any expenses associated with your participation at the workshop.

Sanitary pass. Please bring your sanitary pass and always wear your mask when inside the conference rooms. The sanitary pass is required to access the conference room, and will be verified by a member of the LOC or by a member of the security employed by Sorbonne Université on both days.

Occupation level. The conference room can hold 120 people, we expect just over 50 participants.   

Internet. Wireless connection to the internet is available via eduspot or eduroam.

Tutorial talks. A tutorial talk is a lecture-style presentation. The aim is to introduce PhD students and non-expert researchers to the physics of a well defined topic. A tutorial talk is not a review of the state-of-the art of a field. Tutorial talks are 45 mins long, plus 15 mins of questions.

Review talks. A review talk covers the state-of-the art and the outstanding issues in a given field. The speaker should concisely introduce the underlying physics to the audience, which will generally be non-expert. Review talks are 30 mins long plus 15 minutes of questions.

Posters

Posters will be on display during the whole duration of the workshop.

The poster holders are 2 metres by 1 metre (height x width).
