Javier Pérez Walias was born in Plasencia in 1960 and has a degree in Hispanic Philology from the University of Extremadura. He was part of the generational group that at the beginning of the 80s, from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of Cáceres and under the guidance of Ricardo Senabre and Juan Manuel Rozas, helped renew the poetry made in Extremadura.

Pérez Walias has been awarded with numerous awards such as the IX Prize of Poetry "Residence" of Cáceres, XVII City of Velez-Malaga Poetry Prize, XVII Biennial Poetry Prize "Province of León.

He is the author of many works in verse, like "Cazador de lunas" (1998) or "La voz que nombra los peces" (2010), and some short prose texts.

In one of his works, "El viejo lavadero de lanas", he takes as a reference the Vostell Malpartida Museum, specifically he approaches one of the most relevant works of the museum with the title "why the process between Pilate and Jesus lasted only two minutes?" ("¿por qué el proceso entre Pilatos y Jesús duró solo dos minutos?"). That sculpture appears to be the material recreation of the poem. It is a monumental multimedia work exhibited in the open air. It is a remarkable assemblage made up of a scrapped Russian military plane stuck vertically in a pool of water, its fuselage filled with cars, pianos and computer monitors. It was assigned by the sculptor a critical meaning which is perfectly consistent with the artistic philosophy of all his work; however, the unforeseen appearance of several storks’ nests has brought about not only the physical transformation of the work, but also a simultaneous reorientation of meaning by spectators, thanks to its renewed visual and conceptual perception.
