Take full control of your USB or bluetooth keyboard with this wonderful app. Add shortcuts to specific keyboard functions to better improve your workflow capabilities such as opening an app or doing a specific function.

The keyboard I'm using comes with a Control key and a Command key. Whenever I try to map each of those to the other, so as to achieve Mac-like shortcuts e.g. Cmd+A etc., Google Assistant appears instead and EKH doesn't seem to receive the signal from the pressed key. So basically Command seems hardwired to call Google Assistant. Any way to change that?

Today I installed my Chromecast with Google TV (4K). After installation, I connected my Logitech k830 keyboard with bluetooth. We live in Belgium and here we use azerty. The Gboard is set to azerty, but the physical keyboard remains on qwerty. I also can't find a setting to change the physical keyboard to azerty. Maybe I've missed something, but does anyone know how to change the keyboard layout on my physical keyboard?

Hey there Climano,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that keyboard issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out where I can. While the Chromecast with Google TV does not officially support AZERTY keyboards, there are 3rd-party external keyboard applications that can help out here. I'm not too familiar with any in particular, since they are officially endorsed by Google, but you may be able to find more information about these apps on other sites like Reddit.

I use an external keyboard via bluetooth, with my Max 3.

How can I set the language of the external keyboard? It does not use the default language I have configured.

Thank you for your interest.

I am using the Chinese version system.

The setting says I can switch between between typing chinese and English by pressing ctrl+space and it does work on some occations.

However I cannot switch to other third-party keyboards nor see whether the current keyboard is Chinese or English.

I suggest adding a bar at the botom of the screen and show the present keyboard and language.

Now, on to the matter at hand. I type in English and Japanese every day. On my computer, it's not really a problem. When it comes to using my tablet, it used to be a problem. For typing with Colemak in English with my Bluetooth keyboard, I use an app called External Keyboard Helper Pro, which I cannot recommend enough! Caps lock is mapped to backspace, and the right Alt is mapped to Alt-Gr natively. It also has many, many other keyboard layouts. I've had no problems with it whatsoever. It's a paid app, but it's not very expensive.

Whenever I switched to Japanese, the romaji keyboard used the system's default keyboard layout, which is QWERTY. That was quite frustrating for a number a years, so I finally decided to figure out a way to simply change the default layout (at least the letter arrangement) to Colemak's. I found the answer, but you have to be on a rooted device to do it, unfortunately. I did this on my Fire 7 tablet, but I'm sure it'll work on any Android device.

The process is painlessly simple. I think ES File Explorer will get the job done, but I used Root Explorer (also a paid app). You want to first find the system folder. Press that to find usr and press that to find keylayout. The file you want to edit is titled "Generic.kl." It's important to copy this file somewhere , so if you mess up, you can just paste it back (I had to do that a couple of times). Root Explorer has its own text editor, so I used that; but if you don't have a text editor, I recommend Jota Text Editor. Press Generic.kl, and you should be prompted to open it up in an editor of your choosing. Do so. I changed Keys 16-25, 30-39, and 44-50 to their Colemak equivalent and swapped 14 and 58. The reason why I swapped the last two is because you cannot have the same value twice. Ā I found this out the hard way when I tried to change Caps_Lock to Del, but I also had Del at Key 14. If you have the same value twice, it will render your keyboard useless. After you've made your changes, save, and reboot.

Very much appreciate the tips and recommendation as I am shopping for a Bluetooth keyboard. I will try that app and thank you very much! Glad to see Colemak has become mainstream and now comes standard on chromebooks.

I am using a Droid Bionic and with an Anker K1280C keyboard ( an Apple keyboard clone). I can pair the phone with the keyboard, but the Bluetooth keyboard does not show up in the input method selection list.

I have tried a few applications which do expose a keyboard in the input methods list and connect to the Bluetooth keyboard (BlueKeyboard JP and Blue Input). They allow most of the keys to work, but the key map is not completely correct.

Normally, Android shouldn't need a separate app for that, you're quite correct with that. And normally, it doesn't. But sometimes a little trouble may arise with specific combinations, like e.g. keyboards having a weird layout.

As you write you've got the keyboard basically working, just the layout is screwed: I recommend you taking a look at External Keyboard Helper, which lets you adjust a lot of things to your needs, amongst others the keyboard layout. Though I never used it myself, I already recommended it with a similar question -- and no, I'm in no way affiliated with this app :)

Edit: it looks like iPad (and maybe iPhone 6 plus?) has an extra choice for 'Shortcuts' which are the new icons that sometimes appear. The keyboard chooser and Keyboards settings screen also have a 'Shortcuts' option that can be set to off. You need to set both Predictive and Shortcuts off on iPad to make the bar disappear completely.

I bought an OTG cable for my LG-G2. I connected to the OTG a wireless logitech keyboard (MK 250). In my keyboard layout I got 2 Languages: English and Hebrew. When I press SHIFT-SPACE (language change), I see on the top of the screen the EN(English layout) changes to HE(Hebrew layout) but when I press a button, it types in English while the HE is on the top of the screen. Is there is anyway that this keyboard will type in Hebrew? I tried thitd party apps but it doesn't change anything.

I solved it.I found an app called "external keyboard helper pro". with the app I found a way to change the layout. to switch languages, I just need to change the external keyboard helper to the built in LG keyboard.Thank you Gabe for your help.

1 - go to physical keyboard settingsyou can find it from your keyboard setting (Gboard,swiftkey,etc..) its some option like : "android physical keyboard settings"or maybe you can find it in a location like this : settings->language and input -> physical keyboard settings2 - choose your physical keyboard -> Set up keyboard layouts3 - toggle the language layout options you need

1 - first go to physical keyboard -> Set up keyboard layouts2 - then DONT USE TOUCH TO TOGGLE LAYOUT OPTIONS instead toggle the layout options you want with pressing space on your physical keyboard(you can navigate through that page using arrow keys too) this way the toggle remains turned on and when you exit that pageit works and doesnt turn off like when you have toggled that layout with touch

A few weeks ago I posted a mod I did to my Apple Bluetooth keyboard to make it hold my Galaxy Tab 7. Plus. Since then the mod has been redone to hold my Galaxy S II phone instead, but the basic concept of an Android device physically attached to a Bluetooth keyboard remains.

The application supports a maximum of 19 antennas in the direction finding mode. The radio can control up to eight GPIO pins for the purpose of controlling the external antenna switches used in direction finding. ff782bc1db
