About Us

Sinead and Matthew Andrews

Exsultate Justi is run by Sinead Andrews (who conducts) and Matthew Andrews (who organises everything). We have sung in many ecclesiastical settings for more than 25 years, including university, college, and church choirs.  Together we also run Voces Usuales, an occasional choir that has been singing services in English cathedrals since 2008.

Members of Exsultate Justi are drawn from the benefice and beyond. We are always really pleased to hear from new people who would like to sing with us. You can get in touch using the form on the 'Join Us' page.

About the name

Our name was chosen because the first time we formed the choir at St Peter & St Paul in June 2010 we sang the anthem 'Exsultate Justi' by Ludovico Viadana. The English translation provided for this anthem includes the following words from psalm 32 which we thought made the Latin title a good name for a choir.

"Praise your God, ye righteous, rejoice and sing, for the Lord is worthy to be praised. Raise your voices and sound his praise."

Recordings

During lockdown in 2020 we recorded the Short Service by Gibbons, and some carols for the Benefice Carol Service. One of these recordings is below and you can find the rest on our You Tube channel.
