Exploring Engineering Day is split into two sessions:
In each session, students are grouped together based on grade level. The group size is ideally up to 20 children and their accompanying parents/guardians, and students will be chaperoned by RPI student volunteers. Each group/student will attend four, 30-minute activity blocks, hosted by various RPI clubs and organizations during their session.
Note: Only one parent/guardian per child is permitted. Professor talks are hosted for parents/guardians in attendance and will not be accompanying their child.
Opening Ceremony
Each session will begin in a large lecture room where the co-Exploring Engineering Day Directors will welcome the students, share more about Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), the Society of Women Engineers, and the various interactive club activities planned or the day.
Break-Out
Groups will begin moving to the first of their four, 30-minute hands-on activity blocks.
Learn and Grow
Groups will continue to move between club activities where students grow their knowledge in STEM and creative/critical thinking skills.
Closing Ceremony
Each session will conclude in a large lecture room, congratulating students for immersing themselves within STEM. Parents/guardians will begin the pick-up process at the end of the event.
