Watch a few of the six videos where contributors give an open description of their experiences, and then consider these questions:
- What was your own emotional reaction to these stories? How easy is it to put this into words? How well do you think these accounts communicate to you what the contributors experienced?
- Nearly everyone describes having a diagnosis for their experiences. From what you know of diagnosis and mental health, do you think that it was generally a good thing or not for them to be given these diagnoses? How did your response to their story change when you heard their diagnosis?
- Four of the contributors (Katy, Kat, Mel and Rachel) describe having been given the diagnosis of “Borderline Personality Disorder”. Do you think there are clear enough similarities in their descriptions to make sense of what this means? Are there enough differences in their accounts for you to be surprised that they have the same diagnosis?
- All of the contributors are White British. Can you imagine what might have been the similarities or differences in any of the accounts if they had come from someone with a different cultural identity?
