Our next international road trip will start in first week of November. Last date for registration is 11 September.
Our international road trips have two options. You can explore in our vehicle or you can bring your own vehicle and drive it with us in a convoy. We have a 7 seater luxury SUV (Toyota Estima Hybrid) in which totally 6 people (including driver) will travel. For those people who want to join with their own vehicle here how it goes.
First of all you need to know about Carnet de Passage. The CPD is an international customs document which covers the temporary admission of motor vehicles (private and commercial road motor vehicles) in countries where required. A Carnet de Passages en Douanes is like a passport for a vehicle to enter multiple countries for temporary importation without having to pay the duty and taxes.
It serves as a customs declaration identifying the vehicle to be imported and also constitutes an international guarantee for the Customs authorities of the payment of any customs duties and import taxes chargeable should the vehicles not be re-exported.
The most important document for an international road trip is Carnet. Without it you can do an international trip (though you still need other documents such as passport and visa) but not an international road trip in your own vehicle. To get a carnet in Pakistan you need to deposit the market value of your vehicle (as fully refundable security) with the Automobile Association of Pakistan. Suppose you want to travel internationally in your Prius which is worth PKR 5 million, you will have to deposit PKR 5 million with the association and pay around PKR 1 lak for the documentation.
This condition often deters road trip enthusiasts. For the first time in Pakistan, Al-Nahdee Travels have made it easier for true adventure lovers to get carnet for their vehicles and fulfil their dream of doing an international road trip. We will arrange Carnet for your vehicle for a nominal security. Following is the amount of security for different vehicles.
For a vehicle valuing < PKR 5 million, a fully refundable security deposit of PKR 1 million shall be deposited. (We will arrange the remaining amount)
For a vehicle valuing between PKR 5 million to 10 million, a fully refundable security deposit of PKR 1.5 million shall be deposited. (We will arrange the remaining amount)
For a vehicle valuing between PKR 10 million to 15 million, a fully refundable security deposit of PKR 2 million shall be deposited. (We will arrange the remaining amount)
As far as the documentation fee is concerned, it will be waived off for any vehicle having 4 or more travelers. If the number of travelers in a vehicle is less than that, the documentation fee (around PKR 1 lak) will be beared by the travelers.
The cost per person for those traveling in their own vehicles goes as follows:
It will cost 25% less for those traveling in their own vehicle. Let's say 3 friends want to travel with us in their vehicle worth PKR 5 million on a 30 days Pak-Iran-Turk road trip. Here is their cost structure:
Package cost 595,000 - 25% discount for traveling in own vehicle (150,000) = 445,000*3= 1,335,000.
Security deposit (PKR 1 million)
Carnet documentation fee 100,000
Total cost for 3 travelers = 1,335,000 + 100,000 = 1,435,000. (If there was another traveler with them their Carnet documentation fee would have been waived off).
There is no difference in the package for those traveling in their own vehicles and those traveling in our vehicle except for Fuel and Repair & Maintenance. Those traveling in their own vehicle will bear the expense of fuel and repair and maintenance themselves. Rest remains the same.
Those traveling in their own vehicle will not have their carnets with themselves. Their carnets shall remain with the organizers through out the journey.
If a vehicle of any participant(s) breaks down during the journey which makes other vehicles to stop due to them, any losses/damages to other participant(s) or the organizers will be beared by the owner(s) of the broken down vehicle.
