Through prayer, community, and heartfelt sharing, we will celebrate the peace, freedom, and daily miracles that come from turning our lives over to a power greater than ourselves. Whether you are new, returning, or simply seeking encouragement, you will find a safe, welcoming space and a message meant just for you.

Then the miracle happened–to me! It isn’t always so sudden with everyone, but I ran into a personal crisis which filled me with a raging and righteous anger. And as I fumed helplessly and planned to get good and drunk and show them, my eye caught a sentence in the book lying open on my bed: “We cannot live with anger.” The walls crumpled–and the light streamed in. I wasn’t trapped. I wasn’t helpless. I was free, and I didn’t have to drink to “show them.” This wasn’t “religion”–this was freedom! Freedom from anger and fear, freedom to know happiness and love. When a man’s willing and eager, God joins in. Aeschylus

When a job or situation or personal problem seemed too hard, I used to say, “I can’t do it.” In OA I have tapped a source of power greater than myself. All I need to start the action is willingness. Sometimes willingness comes easily, sometimes it is locked head-on with defiance. Then I feel heavy with the load. What is the willingness formula? Prayer. When the miracle happens, I watch a defect evaporate, a task easily done, a problem solved. God does for me what I cannot do for myself.

For today: I pray for willingness to get on with the twelve steps of recovery. That is the only way I know to replace my fears and insecurities with confidence and courage. When I am willing, there is no void and all things are possible. Overeaters Anonymous For Today

There are many miracles in Overeaters Anonymous. It is a miracle that I am abstinent today, that I have the courage and faith to turn over the running of my life to God. It is a miracle that others who suffer from my illness have provided a place for me to go where I am accepted just as I am. And it is a miracle to have a path to follow that restores me to sanity.

Perhaps now is the time to express my gratitude by offering what talents I have in service to OA. Organizational skills are needed at all service levels. A gift for speaking can attract many who still suffer to the program. Gentleness and understanding are qualities everyone wants in a fellow member.

For today: The central miracle of my life is that I have been restored to sanity and usefulness. I may not have been asked, but if I look, I can find some service for which I can volunteer. Overeaters Anonymous For Today
