Legalising documents

in Vietnam

If you are in Vietnam (and no longer with the documents required for work permit) please check the below requirements to see if you can get your documents legalized in Vietnam.

Certain documents issued overseas can get legalized in Vietnam provided that:

(i) The document owner is already in Vietnam to request notarial services;

(ii) The document owner has all the original qualification documents with him/her;

(iii) The documents were issued by the resident country of the document owner. For example, a bachelor's degree issued by a university based in UK and a British teacher;

(iv) The Embassy of that resident country accepts to provide notarial or affidavit services.

If the answers are all 'YES', below are the steps to get your documents legalized in Vietnam:

Notarized

The document must be notarized by a Vietnam-based Embassy/Consulate of your country of residence. Or you can get an Affidavit where you'll declare the authenticity/true copy status of the document - as long as the Embassy accepts to certify/witness your declaration.

Translated

The document then will need to be translated to Vietnamese by a Public Notarial Office based in Vietnam.

Legalized

At the last step the document will be legalized by Ministry or Department of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam by an apostille.

If any of the answers is NO then you may have to send your documents back to your country of residence to proceed legalization there.
