We would like to re-analyze long-form audio recordings (using LENA® or other child-worn devices) collected from preschool children (0-5 years of age) in the context of Randomized Control Trials, and/or from communities that are under-represented in child development research*. Since we are developing new machine-learning tools, we would need access to the raw audio. The data will be processed respecting all ethical and legal standards.
If you are collecting (or would like to collect) such data, please get in touch with alejandrina.cristia@ens.fr or alecristia@gmail.com to receive more information about the project, potential sharing options, and potential partnerships. Please note that our ERC grant foresees funding to enable others to share and/or collect recordings, so if funding, equipment, or expertise are a stumbling block for you, do reach out to us!
*We are interested in under-represented populations because we would like our conclusions to be more representative of language acquisition as it happens all over the world, rather than focusing on samples that are currently over-represented (e.g., from IndoEuropean languages and urban backgrounds).
