We are three busy moms of amazing autistic and neurotypical children! We have wished for the opportunity to have a drop-in playtime for exceptional kids to come together with their families to connect, have fun, and be themselves. So, we decided to create it! We've teamed up with Autism Society NL (ASNL) to create a parent-led "Community Connections Playtime" for all ages and all abilities. We're very passionate about inclusion, acceptance, and accessibility, so we aim to create a warm and welcoming space for all exceptional families.
Colleen has worked with the provincial government for over 15 years and lives in Mt Pearl, where she is originally from. She lives with her husband, two kiddos, and their almost 14-year-old little Shih Tzu. Colleen's oldest child is autistic and was formally diagnosed just after his 3rd birthday. She is a fun-loving, positive person who always finds the silver lining in every situation.
Heather is a Records Analyst with the Government of NL. She lives in Mount Pearl with her husband and 2 children who are diagnosed as autistic. She is currently pursuing a Business Degree to (hopefully/eventually) work in policy development regarding persons with disabilities. She spends most of her free time volunteering, reading, writing, and laying down with her particularly cuddly 7 year old - the latter three are generally at the same time.
Renee is a primary/elementary teacher who lives in CBS, NL with her husband, 3 children, and puppy. Her twins are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Epilepsy. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Special Education. She is passionate about true inclusion, equity, and accessibility advocacy. Renee is a positive person who loves to help support and connect with others.
