Ethics in the Wild Research Lab

Interdepartmental Center of Research in Digital Humanities

University of Salento

Why do we need ethics in the wild?

Because we are persuaded that Ethics should deal with issues that emerge in real-world, uncontrolled, and complex settings (such as technology, healthcare, and social interactions). This approach allows for a deeper understanding of how ethical considerations play out in the complexities of everyday life. The effort is collaborative, as it includes trans-disciplinary topics and methodology.

Ethics should aim to help us navigate in these settings, even if we are not able to find clear-cut answers or guidelines. We aim to explore ethical questions that are stratified, uncertain, or ambiguous. In this sense, the research lab is not afraid to venture into territories that may sometimes be inhospitable, but where ethics can still feel at home.
