2022 marks the 102st anniversary of the birth of Professor Jerzy Łoś (March 22, 1920 - June 1, 1998), an outstanding Polish mathematician and economist. As a mathematician, he is best known for his results in mathematical logic. In the late 1960s he became interested in the theory of economics, and in particular game theory. He tried to describe the economy using von Neumann models. These works now constitute an essential part of the economic thought of that time. He developed mathematical economics in Poland and it can be said that most of the current Polish specialists in this field are students, or students of professor Łoś's students and associates. The session is mainly devoted to various issues of game theory and mathematical economics.
You can read more about Jerzy Łoś's academic work in an article by Balcerzyk et. al (2000).
The special session is devoted, apart from EWET’s topics, to J.Łoś areas: logic, mathematical economics, and game theory. Papers connected with Łoś's results are especially welcome.
