Wesley Alan Adkins, M.Ed.

Teach for America '19

Wesley Alan Adkins is a proud mathematics teacher at James Campbell High School. He believes in culturally responsive pedagogy, dreaming big, and Nā Hopena A‘o. This first generation graduate cut his teeth on cinema at the University of California Santa Cruz. A film scholar, world traveler, inclusion educator, doting father; the gentleman wears many hats. Looking back on his plight, Wesley credits a relentless love for film when asked how he overcame so many life obstacles.

Debby Ng

Debby Ng has committed over thirteen years to the Hawaii Department of Education, teaching elementary and high school. She has a Masters of Instruction in Reading & Curriculum as well as seven years of coaching K-12 educators along the Waianae Coast under her belt. Ng has served as an RTI2 Counselor at the high school level and was an athletic academic advisor. She facilitates classes at the Masters Level for University of Phoenix. She is a currently a Teach for America employee serving Alumni teachers working towards leadership while also supporting and mentoring new teachers.

Lord Ryan Lizardo

Teach for America '14

Lord Ryan Lizardo works with the Chamber of Commerce Hawai'i as the Program Manager of Work-Based Learning (WBL). His role is to create access, equity, and opportunity for students by connecting educators with industry to provide high-quality WBL experiences. As a former Campbell 2010 alumni and Campbell teacher, Lord Ryan has played a role in the development of many students and alumni. His core belief is preparing Sabers to be young advocates and allies for underserved and underrepresented communities. He continues to stay a strong part of Saber Nation and looks forward to supporting The ʻEwa Beach Drive-In.

Jay Smith

A media entrepreneur, screenwriter, director, and documentarian, Jay Smith’s background as both a creator and educator align perfectly with the instructional, business, and creative mission of the drive-in. Hailing from Compton, California, Jay honed his skills in UCLA’s Graduate Film & TV Production Program, earned a DGA Award, and was even commissioned as a director for MTV’s award-winning True Life documentary series. He's worked the studio world as a Story Editor for MGM and United Artists, and amassed an extensive portfolio with such diverse outfits as Vice Media, Fuse, E! Networks, MTV, Destination America, Nickelodeon, TLC, MySpace, and UFC. Jay's worked with icons and notably held a post for several years as Creative Director at Death Row Records. Currently, his feature biopic screenplay on Wally “Famous” Amos is in development at Hyde Park Entertainment. His companion documentary about Famous Amos is also streaming now on Amazon and Tubi.

Mayan Tamang

Teach for America '19

For over 20 years, Mayan Tamang has worked in restorative justice advocating for at risk youth. A world renowned b-boy and graphic artist, Tamang uses the art of hip-hop to heal, mentor, and inspire new generations to reach beyond the stars. A rooted indigenous man of the horse warrior Tamang tribe, he continues to live by the teachings of his kupuna. When Mayan isn't teaching at Waianae Intermediate, you'll find him grinding rails or dancing on Koko Head.

Colin Revees-Fortney

Colin began making movies in high school with legos creating stop motion shorts. He attended the University of California Santa Cruz where he earned his BA in Film and Digital Media. While a student he worked as the manager of the campus television station, and upon graduation he supported it as a staff member. Afterwards he had brief stints in visual effects, producing for the web and low budget films, and working on crew for features. Colin went on to work for Stanford University making content for their online education endeavor, becoming a Senior Creative Producer. Currently he works at a media company in his hometown of Salinas California.
