When I asked Michael Leasure if he would collaborate with me on this book by writing music, I had no idea how much of a challenge it would be to embed music into an e-book, and neither did Michael. Instead, he read the text and composed. What he interpreted from the story and created in response to the characters' human dilemmas never fails to move me, no matter how many times I listen. I am in the process of creating an e-book where his music will be embedded into the images, just one click away, but for right now the music is here for us all to enjoy just the same!
Likewise, Stacy Kinchen's piece "Ralphie's Lament" captures the grief of loss. We are all grateful that Michael was able to digitize an old Youtube recording that Stacy did years ago and thus bring the song into the story in order to enhance the storyline. For me, "Ralphie's Lament" became "The Death of Baby James" with its poignancy.
