During the yultide season, we decided to go and visit our family whom we've not seen for quite some time.

It has become a regular norm in Nigeria to have fuel scarcity during this season. This makes the price of traveling unbearable for most people but they just need to see their friends and family whom they have not seen in a long while.

Below is a petrol station located at Anyigba-Itobe express way in Kogi State.

Kogi state is fully surrounded by River Niger which is the second largest river in Africa, after River Nile in Egypt.

Below is a sign board leading people to the Federal University in Lokoja. It is one of the new federal universities that was established by former president Good luck Jonathan in 2011

On April 2014 at about 6:45am while I was preparing for work and from information gathered, my elder brother was driving to work already, few meters away from Nyanya market, right in the place where I usually take a motorcycle to help me get to work on time, a terrible thing happened. Two bombs exploded killing over 80 people and leaving over 200 people injured.

Below is a view of Nyanya-Keffi express way with the refurbished site of the bomb blast at the left hand side of the road, just by the market.

This location is few meters away from Mararaba where I live.

On arrival, we were filled with joy and we decided to do a little song 'There is no place like home' by Evi Edna Ogholi born on 6th July 1965 (my little 3 years old daughter with whom i sang this lovely song was born on 7th July). Maybe people born in July have a special love for music. My 5years old son with whom I sang this song also loves music though and he wasn't born in July. Perhaps music is just in our bones hahaha. Edna Ogholi hails from Isoko speaking part of Delta State where I was born and spent over 15years of my life.

I'm blown away by the sonorous voices of you and the children @trendyevents. Hahahaa...enyojo and Winifred, your chief supporters and support singers were singing too with mummy. They are growing up very quickly. Glad to know that you returned back home safely from Kogi State. When next you travel, try to visit the confluence of River Niger and Benue at Lokoja and share pictures.

When I was a lot younger (you were not born at that time) in the early 80s, and our eldest brother, Christopher, was a student at Federal Government College, Ugwuolawo. Our mother, Christopher and I used to ferry across the River Niger with speedboat from Agebegbode to Idah and back. Lovely memories of the river Niger.

The lyrics to Evi-Edna Ogholi's song "No Place Like Home" are an ode to the importance and comfort of one's home, and a declaration of the singer's deep attachment to her own. The repetition of the phrase "There is no place like home, home sweet home" serves as a reminder that no matter where she goes, no other place can compare to the sense of belonging and security found in her own space.

The sentiment is further reinforced by the lyrics that describe the peaceful and loving atmosphere of her home. The singer is willing to face any challenges or storms that may come her way, confident in the support of her community and the strength that comes from being rooted in her home. The repetition of the chorus underscores the idea that no matter where life takes her, she will always come back to her beloved home.

This song could be interpreted as a celebration of the Nigerian spirit of community and connection to one's roots. It is a reminder that even as people explore the world and seek new experiences, they should never forget the importance of staying connected to their origins and the people who make up their home.

The song "No Place Like Home" by Evi Edna Ogholi is an ode to the beauty and comfort of one's home. The lyrics emphasize how no matter where she travels, whether it be to the south, west, east, or north, she will always come back home. The repetition of the phrase "there is no place like home" reinforces the idea that home is truly unique and special. Ogholi adds that there is peace and love in her home and that everything is fine, which strengthens the idea that home is a place of safety and security.

Overall, "No Place Like Home" is a beautiful tribute to the idea of home and the comfort it brings. It is clear that Ogholi has a deep pride and love for her home and the people who make it special.

In the 90s, the Elegant Stallion became a feature in Nigeria's home video industry (Nollywood.) In 1999, she starred in 'Conspiracy', arguably one of the best dramatic performances by a Nigerian actor. The song featured a hit from her discography, 'You & I'. The film's success led to a revival of the cult classic song and introduced it to a new generation of music lovers. 'You & I' remains one of the most endearing ballads by a Nigerian singer. ff782bc1db
