Staff Messages to the Class of 2020

Class of 2020, you are a selfless group of individuals. I feel blessed to have worked with such a hardworking group of students and am excited to see everything you will be achieving in the future.

Congratulations, Class of 2020! Over the years you have been challenged academically, physically, and emotionally. You have created some great relationships and memories. Dear Seniors, I'm so proud of how you have handled the wrench thrown at you with COVID-19. Instead of dwelling on what you have lost, you have found ways to cope, found joy in new hobbies, spending time with family, and appreciating what you do have. You are stronger than you know and kinder because of it. Best wishes on your future endeavors. You've got this!

You are an amazing class! I have watched so many of you grow-up through sports, activities and friendships well before you attended Eastview. As young people, you have already weathered many storms in your lifetimes. Your resiliency will help you in all that you will do in the future. I will miss not seeing you in the hallways and classrooms. Good luck and best wishes to everyone in all that you do.

Hey, Class of 2020! Although you are missing traditional milestones, use your tech savvy ways to celebrate and be together. As one of the most playful and creative graduating classes, start new traditions; create new milestones. "Keep on keepin on...see the light"

From freshmen year through today, I am privileged to have known you. You are a class that always made me proud to teach at Eastview, and at the same time, one that never failed to make me laugh. Next year your presence will be missed in the classrooms, in the halls, in the theater, on the athletic fields, and just about everywhere. My hope for you as you move on from Eastview is that you find joy in all aspects of your life.

Congratulations, seniors, on your graduation from EVHS! A special shout out to those I had in Mythology, Team Tribolt, and Team Energy! Blessings as you enter a new chapter of life.

As I look back at my numerous experiences with you, I recall the amount of ‘heart’ your class has shown. From the hug Ali Kadri gave me on a day when I was feeling low, to the numerous speeches you put hours into writing and practicing. Those speeches made me laugh and sometimes made me chocked up. Your passion has been shown in how you care for one another and your dedication to the arts, sports and academics. You are a class with amazing spark and I look forward to hearing all about you in the future. Thanks for the memories.

It has been a pleasure to teach the class of 2020. They are a class full of funny, talented, relaxed, mature people. As artists and performers, I have watched them embrace opportunities, participate without need for spotlight or accolade and say yes to new ideas. Their lights will shine bright in the world and their voices will sing beyond the halls of Eastview.

Class of 2020, we need you now more than ever. Continue to grow and make change. If anyone can do it, it's you!

What an awesome assembly of young people. So resilient, so talented, and so hilarious. I will miss you all. Basketball guys - the virus robbed you - we all could taste your deserved run to the championship! My baseball boys - you guys are the best! Just got the word that Thunder ball might be a go after all! That means a very talented group of seniors will come together with great juniors to produce some tremendous summer fun!! Here comes AJ, Zach, Drew, Jack, Caden, Preston, Sam, Ayden, Parker, Eli, Grant, Dr. Double, Curveball McNasty, the Dancing Gucci Flip-Flop Master, and all the rest to wreak havoc on the other teams and bring joy to Eastview baseball fans all summer long!

The class of 2020 has shared many cohesive relationships throughout your time together. May you always feel that connection and support from your Eastview Ohana. Go forward and do great things!

The seniors that I have had the privilege to know, were extremely hard-working prior to the Covid crisis and they have shown amazing resilience since. Congratulations, you most certainly deserve it!

Class of 2020, you will be missed so very much. We are sad that we did not get to spend your last days of high school with you, and wish things ended differently. You are a class full of optimism and grace and will be missed a great deal.

Many of you have already overcome great hardship without losing your dignity or your sense of humor. So although your senior year ended abruptly, and the near future may be unclear, you already possess everything you need to get through it: resilience, compassion, and optimism. The Class of 2020 is near and dear to my heart for so many reasons. To those I've known literally since birth and to those I've met in recent years...it has been a true privilege to see you grow and develop into the outstanding individuals you are today. I do not know many of you, however from what I have seen in the hallways, classrooms and cafeteria has told me you are an extraordinary class. Keep being extraordinary.

I wish I could say that the Covid-19 pandemic will be the most challenging thing life throws at you. But it won't be. There will be many challenges ahead. I know you have the confidence and courage to overcome anything.

Thanks for working through these challenging times and looking ahead to your promising futures!

I want you to focus on the positive lessons that you have learned throughout your journey through Eastview. Life is full of adversity. How you embrace it will define you!

Miscible - Not only does the Class of 2020 mix well with their peers; they reach out to bond with others in the EVHS community. I certainly will miss them.

My heart is still breaking from all you have missed. I know you will go on to do great things and will be stronger and more resilient because of your experiences these last couple months. Go get everything you deserve! You're life starts now and you can make it whatever you want it to be!!! I am excited to see everything you accomplish!

I had the privilege of working with you as sophomores and as seniors. It was an honor to not only work with you, but to watch you transform into the incredible adults that you have become. Adversity doesn't define us, but our reaction to it does; the Class of 2020 is tenacious, and I have no doubt that you will not only survive, but thrive, in the times ahead. Dear 2020 Grads...

I have seen you grow up (many of you since you were babies). You have entertained me for years with your singing, dancing, and numerous sporting activities. You have made me laugh, inspired me with your bravery, and brought me joy for 18 years. I have been privileged to call myself your teacher. I have seen you go from shy timid sophomores in geo to confident young adults as seniors. I am confident that you are bound for greatness!

The Eastview class of 2020 is filled with positive, motivated, determined individuals who accomplished many amazing goals during their time at EVHS, but I will remember them as one of the best group of freshmen that Team Sky has ever known. If there is one thing I hope you take away from a historic graduation is that you should never ever trade the value of human contact for anything. Remember as you travel down the road of life that money, jobs, or Instagram followers, or likes on social media cannot trade the camaraderie of being with others. I have been amazed at how much these seniors push each other to be better thinkers & problem solvers, increase academically, and achieve more of whatever goals they set. With my whole heart I hope they can also embrace the beauty of slowing down, breathing deeply, and knowing their value doesn't come from achievement - they are valued because they are uniquely made to just be themselves. May this be the lesson that Covid-19 leaves with them for a lifetime.

I have had the privilege to watch this class grow up from curious little elementary school kids to become the young men and women you are today. As talented as this class is, I can't wait to see what's next for this exceptional group of kids.

Class of 2020

It has been an honor and privilege to have so many of you in my classroom. Your class has displayed leadership, spirit, and perseverance during your time at Eastview. I wish you the best as you begin the next phase of life.

I went through a graduating class list and counted how many students I taught or coached directly. I had the great experience of teaching or coaching 292 of you and what strikes me about all of you is how much fun you all are. There are 292 individuals who are different but share the common thread of being enjoyable people to be around. From you all convincing me to buy a truck second quarter of senior year to the freshmen football and basketball team years ago...this class has brought me tens of thousands of stories I recall and will continue to recall fondly when I look and see the names of the class of 2020. You have made me a better teacher and coach. Thank you!
